Goldie’s travels continue

Goldie had a few days off blogging to celebrate Christmas- but he has carried on with lots of adventures. Including braving the madness of Boxing Day sales on Oxford Street and a visit to the British Museum.

Yesterday he traveled in the Eurostar which is a train that goes from England to France in a tunnel under the sea. He’s now having a few days in Paris.

He’s staying in Montmartre and spent yesterday exploring including climbing 300 steps to walk round the Dome of the Sacre Coeur Basilica to get amazing views of Paris.

There are lots of interesting sights including old windmills.

He’s planning a trip to the Louvre today.

The Tower of London and the River Thames

Goldie has carried on being a London tourist and had another action packed day at The Tower, down by the river, looking round Harrods and managing crowds bigger than the whole population of Cromwell on Oxford Street and on the tube.

Highlights at the Tower were the White Tower - the oldest part built during William the Conquerer’s reign nearly 1000 years ago its full of amazing armour, model horses and ancient weapons.

The Crown Jewels are pretty amazing too - not allowed to take any photos in there - so there is only a photo of the Queens guard standing outside.

We headed out of the Tower and over Tower Bridge for lunch down by the river.

We were wowed by the food halls, crowds and total excess at Harrods - we didn’t really fit in.

I think it might be a slightly quieter catch up day today.

Big day in the big city

Goldie has had a busy and adventure filled day. He started off getting a true London experience riding in the top deck of a red bus.

Then off to The Natural History Museum where he had a bit of a scare in an encounter with a T-Rex.

The museum is on Cromwell Road so the Harrys took a photo opportunity.

Next stop was the Victoria and Albert museum and The Winnie the Pooh exhibition.

We squeezed in a quick look at Covent Garden and a drink at the Punch and Judy pub on the way home.

Yay we finally made it to London

So after lots of airports and many hours flying Goldie and the Harrys arrived at Heathrow airport at 4:30am. Our cabbie took us on a great early morning Central London tour on our way to Aunt Dolly’s place in Holloway.

We set off on foot from Dolly’s - down the Cally and along the tow path on the Regents Canal to St Martins Square and then to check out Kings Cross and St Pancras stations.  We had fun checking out Platform 9 3/4

Then we headed to Camden Market to check out the street food and soak up the funky, artsy shops and stalls in the market.  We all came away with at least one interesting purchase.

We’d had enough of walking by then and decided to brave the tube for our journey home.

My fit bit tells me that our little walking tour from Dolly’s was more than 20,000 steps and 13 1/2 kilometres - we’re all shattered but trying to stay up and awake until bed time.

Goldie Bear in Blenheim

I got up at 4:30 in the morning to get ready to go to Blenheim and look at houses for when my family moves up there, finally we got in the car and headed off to Blenheim, it was dark outside with heaps of shiny stars and as we were driving through the Lindis Pass I spotted a shooting star and it was awesome.

Eventually we arrived at Omarama and got a photo of Goldie with the big ram and then we left off again, Next we stopped at Fairlie to get a pie from my favourite pie shop in the world. The Fairlie Bakehouse and while we were there we rang my dads friend in Christchurch and said we would be there soon.

When we got to Christchurch we stopped at my dads friends house and he imports cool cars like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Porsche, Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Range Rover and I got to go for a ride in Black 2006 Ferrari f430 Spyder. Goldie got photos with the Ferrari, Maserati and Porsche and then we left off to Blenheim but when were there I was sick most of the time and when I finally got better I went to the movie cinema and watched Suicide Squad
